about

naive is once again asking you to check this incredible debut on the label, this time by Dutch duo of Surinamese descent, Black Cadmium. Joginda Macnack and Mike Richards are two vinyl-digging, deck-dominating and gem-producing aces from Rotterdam, a city chock-full of rave liturgy. Remember dancefloors? Well, Black Cadmium released some serious dancefloor heat on labels such as Vault Wax, Josh Wink's Ovum and Carista's United Identities since dropping their debut via DJ Pierre's Afro Acid label offshoot Afro Deep last year.

On "Chemistry EP", Joginda and Mike show some real range and concoct one of our most varied offerings yet: slowed-paced, bristolian bass & soul; West London beats circa 00; M1 motorway rave bangers and austere Chicago acid all find their way into this unusually accomplished display of ecclecticism. Title-track and opener "Chemistry" brings golden age Smith & Mighty into the future while "Chain Reaction" resembles Ballistic Brothers or the headier side of late 90's broken beat. Things take an unexpected turn on the flip with two hair-raising hypnotic bangers that will keep you dreaming of post-pandemic rave catharsis. First off comes "Everything", an epic acid bopper equal parts late 80's bare bones Chicago jack and early 90's Plastikman techno. Lastly, the explosive jungle techno vibes of "Sexy Acid" combining classic breaks, 303 and booming 4/4 beats to flush all serotonin reserves down the pipes and keep ravers howling.
